1)Your junior must be a member of Triathlon Ireland to participate (first session . If they are not a member of a triathlon club already it would be great for them to join Fingal (€5, and this can be done when they are joining TI) www.triathlonireland.com
2) Between the monthly sessions it is important for your junior to be training.
Gary recommends all the juniors to join a swimming club. Their 400m time is what is assessed during talent identification days.
Fingal Tri Club and Lusk AC joined forces for run training. Juniors are welcome on Tuesdays at 7-8pm (HIGH VIS JACKETS ARE MANDATORY).
Also keep the cycling up and please make sure that they are practising their bike and transition skills.
Swim / Cycle / Run Training days
These training days are designed to bring together the 3 disciplines of triathlon (Swimming, cycling, running along with transition) into one training session over a 3 hour period once a month. The day is suitable to all abilities however we would ask that your junior can swim at least 1 length of a 25 metre pool (if they can't they can just train in running and cycling). It is a great way to join the three sports that your junior may already be doing with dedicated running and swimming club. All junior athletes under 18 will be catered for on these training days.
The programme will be supplied by Elena Maslova and Gary Crossan and they will also advise the children on the ideal training programme between the sessions.
Materials required: Swimming gear (wetsuit not required as it's a pool based swim)
Runners and suitable running clothes
Suitable road worthy bike with a working helmet
Lunch and plenty of water
The general run of the Day is:
2:45 - 3pm Meet, Greet, Register, payment (at the car park of the indoor arena)
3 - 5pm Run / Cycle / Transition / Break
